Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake

My grandma used to make a strawberry rhubarb dump cake... delicious. Frog Prince has an allergy to strawberries... and loves cherries. So, we recreated a family favorite using pineapple and cherries!

Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake - Finding Joy in My Kitchen (modified from Grandma!)

1 can cherry pie filling (or you can make your own)
1 can crushed pineapple (or your can crush fresh pineapple)
1 yellow cake mix (or you can make your own)
1/4 - 1/2 C butter

Mix together 1 box of dry yellow cake mix with butter until it is crumbly (alternatively, you can slice the butter really thin and at the end, layer it over the top of the cake).

Mix together cherry pie filling and pineapple (yes, with the juice).

Pour into the bottom of a 9x13 glass pan.

Sprinkle cake mix topping over the top of the fruit (here's where you'd lay the butter over the top if you opted for that approach)

Bake at 350 for 45 min - 1 hour, or until top is lightly browned and cake is bubbly.

Serve warm with ice cream, or with whipped cream. Eat cold too... really, at any time.
