Soft Italian Bread Sticks

When I saw this recipe, I immediately thought "Olive Garden"! Then, I took a closer look at the ingredients and noticed they use Italian seasoning -- delicious. We had to try them.

Soft Italian Bread Sticks - Modified from Marie

1/3 C warm water (70-80 degrees F)
1 T soft butter (or olive oil)
1 C bread flour
2/3 T sugar (I just guestimated this)
1/3 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp. salt
1/3 tsp. garlic powder
3/4 tsp. yeast
butter, melted
Parmesan cheese, grated

Gather your ingredients...

Place all ingredients in (minus the butter and Parmesan) in your bread machine following the directions. Press start and wait until ready.

or... combine water, sugar and yeast together, and allow to get bubbly. Then add in the spices and the bread flour (and salt), adding the garlic last.

Knead bread together (using your fun, new pastry mat!)

and shape into a ball. Cover (or place in a plastic bag) and allow to rise until doubled.

Cut into a 4-6 inch rope and roll to form bread sticks.

Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes, until doubled. Place bread sticks about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet (you may need to grease it).

Bake at 350 for 15 minutes until golden brown (... do not over bake!)

Brush immediately with melted butter and top with Parmesan cheese.

Enjoy!
