Holler from http://tinnedtomatoes.blogspot.com has tagged me for a meme. What is a meme you ask for those of us not in the know??? Eight random things about yourself. Since this is a food blog I have kept it food related.
The photo was taken from a vantage point overlooking Kalamalka Lake (Lake of Many Colours) and the borough of Coldstream near Vernon, British Columbia.
THE RULES
1. All right, here are the rules.
2. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
3. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
4. People who are tagged write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
5. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to tag and list their names.
Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
Here goes Holler!!!
1. We all have habits that have carried on down since we were kids. I love all things pickled. When I am feeling blue and in need of comfort I still eat pickled onion sandwiches. Yes, I said it...I admit it...it has to be on white bread too or what is the point. May as well go all the way.
2. When I was 19 I ventured out on my own into my new apartment. I invited my sister and
her boyfriend over for dinner at my new place. What did the culinary goddess serve.???...meat pies, canned carrots and even canned potatoes.... please don't gag....and I even remember commenting on how delicious my own creations were. (I've come a long way baby!!!)
3. My favourite drink is a Bellini. Not the high ball kind that they serve all over Europe but a
"Milestones "frozen slushy kind. You know the kind I mean. It is made with Champagne,
Peach Schnapps and topped with Sangria. But, the real secret is... the best ones are not at
"Milestones" where the slushy drink was invented, but at "Joeys' Global Grill".
4. I watch the Food Network morning, noon and night!!! While I am getting ready for work I
have the station on exclusively for an hour and a half. Hey...I take my time getting ready ....
do some blogging, read my e-mails. I don't have to be at work till 9:30. and it is only 15
minutes away.
5. I love Greek food and all things Greek. I went on a 5 week vacation to Greece this past
Spring. Eight of those days were spent on the island of Kea at Keartisanal with Aglaia Kremezi and her husband Costas Moraitis. Foodie heaven.... There are several Greek takeout places not far from home. My last place I lived had
a restaurant across the street.
6. I hate (dislike...hate is a strong word) tofu and all things tofu!!!! Although, I do remember when I was a child my mom made
tofu cheesecake. It was definitely good!!! She always tried to hide nutrition in our
meals...mashed cauliflower in with our potatoes..you know... Even Michael Smith on the Food Network makes a nice chocolate mousse using silken tofu. I have just offended every vegan out there, but, I am a very tactile person. This would include what I put in my mouth. There are foods I dislike, not for their flavour, but for their texture. Tofu is one of them.
7. Anyone who knows me knows I will drive hours for a good loaf of bread. There are several
bakeries that are "to die for" within an hour's radius of my home. I know where they all are,
their hours of operation, etc. I will also drive miles for a buttertart, french fries, fresh fruit
pies and cinnamon buns (with cream cheese icing!!!).
8. ...Number 8....drum roll please!!!!!!!!! You already know this one Holler. Every Friday night
after work my friends and I go walking. Sometimes we walk up Knox Mountain which is
about an hour uphill, or sometimes we walk an hour and 45 minutes on the Greenway.
Then we reward ourselves with wine and dinner out. Our first walk of the season was
rewarded with strawberries and Champagne and the view in the header of my blog. So much for excercise!
Well now you know all about me. I will tag those of you I know. If you want to participate that is fine. If not that is OK too. I know that some of you have already done this before. I am new to blogging and haven't quite figured out all there is to posting and how to optimize my posts as yet, so, I will do the best I can with the knowledge I have. My posts always have a mind of their own once they are published, changing my punctuation and paragraphing, etc...
